I commuted to school with a guy who picked me up in a Chevy Yukon. I nearly shit when I saw the size of the vehicle and proceeded to give him endless crap about it.

His excuse for driving it: all of the bad drivers out there. He wanted to be protected.

The worst driver I've ever seen? Him.

Subconsiously, he assumed everyone was as bad of a driver as he was and he "protected" himself by driving this SUV. He was the Worst driver I've ever been stuck with in a car.

    When we're all forced to drive vehicles like his in order not to be killed by them, he and his kind will have to drive forever larger vehicles to compensate. Sickening aholes.

      There was some segment on why people drive SUVs that I caught once and most people said it's because everyone else does and they need to be able to "compete" on the road. Some women said they drove them to keep their kids safer. Then they proceeded to give the details of several studies that showed how much more dangerous SUVs are in an accident....

        The GMC Yukon and Yukon Denali
        Two of the Largest SUV's on the road and BOTH fair Miserably in Federal Crash Tests! In just a 50MPH front Crash Test hitting a solid concrete wall the front occupants died and the rear seat occupants "bled to death from their injuries".
        There is NO "Safety Cage" around the front seat occupants so the engine comes right in and crushes them,even an Airbag doesn't stop a 400 pound engine! The crash dummies faces were protected perfectly by the Airbag (they were "All Smiles"!)while the Engine rammed into and crushed their bodies from the waist level down,turning them into "ground Hamburg" The front of the vehicle came inside the passenger compartment SO FAR it even crushed the Legs and thighs of the back row seat passengers(back of Seat Airbags kept their pretty faces smiling brightly!) ...but they were ALL DEAD!.
        GREAT ...so much for all those Women who think...Ohh It's HUGE My Children and I will be SO Protected!
